Blank

I'm so spacey right now, I have no clue what is going on. I apologize for my lack of concentration. Last night somehow I found an ounce of focus and came up with this cute overlay. Hopefully by this winter I'll find my middle ground and start creating full time again.

Back To School!!

I was never fond of school. Perhaps it was the bullies I had to deal with, or how I thought it was a total waste of time. My favorite part about going to school was buying new supplies and going to art class.

Which has led to this cute little pencil crayon case.

Planting Trees

For the last four years I've spent a lot of time cutting down thorn trees on my family's farm. I know this seems wasteful of a practically good tree, but there are a lot of negatives of having thorn trees around. Especially if you like your tires or even your feet. The poison released from a thorn is much more painful than it poking through your skin.

I purchased some tree seeds from http://www.seedrack.com, and the other day they finally came out of my fridge and I was able to stick the seeds into some soil. I really hope some of these grow.

To Knit, Or Not To Knit

I taught myself how to knit about at year ago, but I'm so fast at crocheting that knitting seems like it takes forever to complete anything! I love the look of lacy crochet, but also love the finished product of a knitted items such as hats and afghans. Some of the stitches seem really complicated.

My sister used to work at an upscale yarn shop, and she couldn't believe the number of people who didn't even know what crochet was.  I'm starting to think that it's a knitter's world out there, but I'm ok with that.

I once read that women back in the day learned how to crochet because wearing lace signified a higher social status. They could also easily make it themselves and sell it for profit. I'm assuming the same goes for knitting.

Anyway, I would like to introduce to you one of my favorite knitters, Nineteenhundred Designs. She just opened up her online shop, but already has some really cute baby items up for sale. I love this blue striped baby blanket

I'm a sucker for stripes!  She also has some great hat and bootie sets available too.

As time goes on, I'll still be making lace, while others are making useful clothing and accessories.

July 4, 2012

The 4th of July, Independence Day, is my favorite holiday. I've developed my own traditions to ensure that it be the best possible day ever. This year, I watched approximately five different firework shows, attended one parade, drove through 9 different cities, and had a blast!

A few years ago I met a man on Christmas Eve at bar where we sat and drank Mountain Dew for hours. We talked a lot about art, and just life in general. He even had a few photos of some of his art work that were saved on his cell phone.
He's one of the nicest guys that I've met in a long time, and his name is Todd Spore. I've seen him off and on, and when I heard that he was painting a town mural on the side of a building I was very interested in seeing it.

Well it is finished!! Let me tell you it is amazing!

There is a lot of family history painted in this mural.  In fact the little girl in the yellow dress, she is distant relative of mine.

Here is a great video on the meaning and history of this mural.
